My Body, My Home Among The Hills: Reclaiming Body respect across the lifespan
This Body, My Home Among the Hills: Reclaiming Body Respect Across the Lifespan is a compassionate guide for anyone learning to live in their body again. Blending psychology, storytelling, and gentle self-inquiry, therapist and writer Ali Deem invites readers to explore how body image and food relationships shift across the many seasons of life.
Through childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and beyond, this book offers a map toward respect rather than perfection. It honors the messy and non-linear work of healing and reminds us that our bodies are not problems to fix but homes to return to, again and again.
Ali Deem is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, and West Virginia native with a passion for helping people reclaim body respect across the lifespan. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from West Virginia University. Drawing from her clinical experience, Appalachian roots, and personal recovery journey, Ali offers readers a grounded, compassionate voice in the healing process.

“Your body was never the problem. It was the place where you learned to survive, and now it can become the place where you learn to come home.”
